The Children’s Overture was the first work premiered by the CBC Vancouver Chamber Orchestra, in 1959 – by this time Turner had been working as music producer for almost 7 years – since May 1952 – the work was recorded by the CBC Orchestra – released on two different LP recordings – and is still available on CD on Ovation Volume 4.
The popular overture was later arranged for high school bands by Paul Patterson and recorded by Fraser Linklater – get further details.
In 1958 Turner began his association as composer with the annual CBC Vancouver Festival – he had already been producing the festival for several years through his work as Senior Producer with CBC Vancouver.
